Monty Vickers: News

Ch-Ch-Changes! - February 26, 2011

We shot our first video last week and it's hilarious, as is the song we chose, "Panasonic". This was written, shot, and edited by my son, Aaron, and he did a great job. I will keep you posted.

I have been invited to appear in a songwriter's show at the Alban Arts Center in St. Albans, WV on Saturday, March 19. This is a great way to support the local arts and I hope my home state fans will come out for an amazing evening.

Rare Acoustic show a hit! - January 22, 2011

On Saturday, January 15, 2011 I was pleased to present a rare solo acoustic show at Taylor Books in Charleston, West Virginia. My followers will note that I do often play a little solo but typically have a small combo of amazing musicians backing me. This trip was totally solo acoustic and I presented new music that I have been working on for the new EP.
Renee handled the harmonies and I was pleased that our good friend, Patricia Dilley, sat in for several songs on the autoharp. Lovely job!
I enjoyed the gog so much that I am committed in 2011 to playing "naked" as much as possible. Watch the calender for my rare public appearances. They will be worth it!

Music for Haiti - February 13, 2010

A local group of songwriters and musicians, including our very own Monty Vickers, Chuck Peterson, and Jim Snyder fought the winter tooth and nail to have a show to collect money for Haiti. The United Methodist Committee on Relief participated in a gate match and thousands of dollars were raised! 100% of the funds collected are going straight to relief in Haiti.
Unfortunately, the first date planned for the show was a snow out and Monty could not make it to the rescheduled date but Jim and Chuck put on an amazing show and Monty was able to collect donations to help out too.

Recent Show News - October 23, 2009

My favorite venue, Taylor Books, recently invited me to appear and it was perfect timing as I am in process on the new, unnamed, album. New music was flowing with my great backup band, The Remnants, in tow. Renee added her great voice and carried me through some typical equipment failure which no one noticed but me. Sparky Peterson was on bass and David Mayse, late of Lost Cause fame, threw down percussion. The new music is upbeat and reminiscent of the islands and Mexico. The place was crowded and none other than my Detroit rocker and raconteur, Johnny Melrose, drove in from Michigan just for the show, driving back that very night! Crazy but gotta love the guy. Search for his blogs and music.
Played with Lost Cause recently too and things were crazy as always. www.thelostcauseband.com for news!

Added again! - July 31, 2009

Sold out of CD's on www.CDBaby.com but just reloaded so go get 'em! Several of my songs have been selected to be part of a compilation CD that will be sold for charity by the Psi Upsilon Foundation out of Indiana. Still no call from the Grammy's!
Also, hard at work on the new album...to be named later. These songs are upbeat and crazy with everything from my new ukelele, purchased on the Hawaiian swing from Scotty's on Kauai. What a trip! Also, just back from West Palm Beach and Bermuda...if that won't inspire you, nothing will. Stay tuned!

Crazy Night @Taylor Books - June 6, 2009

We brought the show home on June 6 at Taylor Books where I was able to not only present the album but to feature new music and my new upbeat musical direction. Bj Nibert (keyboards), Chuck Peterson (Bass), and Rick McNeely (guitar/mandolin) were there to make things great. I also introduced my new ukelele that I picked up in Hawaii the week prior in my swing thru Kauai. Wish you had been there!

Sales Flash! - April 30, 2009

We have SOLD OUT through CDBaby.com and have to send more CDs to replenish. This is a good problem to have. Sales from as far away as Canada and California...maybe they're making a new Jackass movie or Juno vs. Octomom...

Included! - April 3, 2009

Oasis, my CD production company of choice, has selected one of my songs, "Panasonic", off the CELLULAR album, to be included in an acoustic artist compilation CD that will be distributed to radio stations! Nice!

Newsflash!!! - March 16, 2009

It's official...the Charleston Daily Mail (Charleston, WV) is running an article about the album and my double life as a folk singer and doctor. There is an amazing photoshopped picture that you just have to check out!

Top of the World - March 14, 2009

The band, Lost Cause, is playing Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, right here in West Virginia...cold, dreary, sleety...just my cup of tea! If you read this and you are at the beach, hire us and we'll pay you!

Monty in the paper - February 27, 2009

I just had a great interview with Monica Orosz, talented writer and editor from the Charleston (WV) Newspapers...hopefully, there will be an article about the music very soon! Thanks to Monica for a very pleasant visit.
